Spartacus offers everything one could look for in an elite stud - exceptional performance in the show ring, recognition by the best breeders in the country, and most importantly, a track record of exceptional offspring.
Spartacus took Reserve Champion in the Futurity and Reserve Champion in CABA, both recognized as large shows with some of the toughest competition around. In addition he took many firsts in other shows. He has a commanding presence, standing proud in the field. Spartacus is the densest macho I’ve ever laid hands on – period. He is heavy boned with very correct conformation (see his shorn picture). His bite is perfect, and his signature head is unmistakable. His first year fleece measured 18.0 microns, and he has preserved his crimpy character even at 9 year of age. Phenotypically, he is a sight to behold.
Of course, the best way to assess the genotypical quality of a stud is to look at his offspring. Out of only 33 offspring in total, here are just a few highlights of their performance in the show ring:
- 5 Champion awards
- 3 Reserve Champion awards
- 17 first place awards, including 1st place at AOBA
- Both Fawn Champion and Reserve at the first AWE show in 2003, MSA Cannonero and MSA Brunello, were Spartacus offspring. They are now the only two colored animals in the prestigious Stud-Master program.
According to Greg Mechlam, of Pacific Crest Alpacas, “He carries the densest fawn fleece we have produced and has maintained beautiful character.” Apparently the judges agree. Call us at 503-543-5815 to learn more.
